His book, Outdoor Adventure Guide: Backpacking and Hiking, was published in June 2020. It is a new and updated version of his first book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Backpacking and Hiking (April 2010), which has sold over 11,000 copies.
Jason previously worked as the skills editor at Backpacker magazine, and he began is writing career at Outside magazine. He has also published articles in Runner's World, Women's Health, Outdoor Retailer Daily, Spirit (Southwest Airlines), Wired, Men's Health, and Men's Journal.
